Move a Gas Line or Meter

Criteria for Moving a Gas Line or Meter

Below are a few examples of situations where you may need to move a natural gas line or meter:

  • You have a new gas appliance
  • You need to remove an appliance
  • You want to extend an existing structure or build a new one
  • You have a gas line under an existing building or structure
  • You want to change the grade of your land or have a digging project (Planting a tree, building a fence, building a driveway)

Submit a Move Request

You can give us a call or submit a request electronically and we will get back to you within 2-5 business days. At that time, we will require the following information before proceeding with your request:

  • A description of the work
  • The address/location of the work
  • The total load of all new and existing gas appliances in British Thermal Units (BTU)
  • The name and contact phone number for your gas fitter

Once we have all the information we need, there will be an engineering assessment of the requested line or meter move. When that is complete, we will follow up on next steps.

For safety reasons, please do not start digging or make any changes until you’ve spoken with us.
