Distribution Rate Details

Typically applies to and is most economical for residences and small businesses who consume up to 8,205 gigajoules (GJ) per year.

  • Property Taxes (Rider B) are taxes and fees levied by and paid in full to your municipality or other third party.

Apex Utilities charges for other business services not included in the Gas Distribution Service rates. These charges are approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission. View the Special Charges Schedule.

As part of the federal government’s carbon pricing system mandated under the Greenhouse Pollution Pricing Act, the federal carbon tax was applied to all fossil fuels in Alberta, including natural gas, starting on January 1, 2020. For more details, refer to the Federal Carbon Tax page.

  1. Most Franchise Fees are applied only to the gas distribution charges on your bill. Gas distribution charges include the fixed charges, variable energy charges, demand charge (where applicable), and exclude the gas cost. However, some municipalities also apply the Franchise Fee to gas costs. If your municipality applies the Franchise Fee to gas costs, an asterisk (*) appears beside the municipality name.
  2. Any bill rendered on or after the effective date is subject to the corresponding rate.
