Pipeline Surveys
Keeping our System Safe and Reliable
To ensure the continued safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to our customers across Alberta, Apex Utilities completes annual maintenance and monitoring on our pipelines and other infrastructure.
What are Pipeline Surveys?
During pipeline surveys – which usually take place between Spring and Fall each year – our fully trained technicians and contractors check every inch of our pipelines for leaks. We schedule these pipeline leak surveys over a 5-year rotating schedule to make sure our pipes are checked at regular intervals. This adds up to over 21,000 km walked every five years!
Because our pipelines run throughout all of Alberta on both public and private property, and our technicians and contractors need to walk directly over the pipelines to complete the survey correctly, our team will occasionally need to access your property to complete these surveys. The surveying will have no impact on customers’ gas supply and will not require any digging or other forms of ground disturbance.
How do I know if you’re surveying in my area/on my property?
We will make every reasonable attempt to let you know when surveying work is occurring in your area, and as always, we appreciate your patience while we complete this very important activity. Keep an eye on our social media accounts for notifications of when pipeline surveys will be completed in your area.
